Silk + Honey is an all-natural, Do-It-Yourself beauty and cosmetics company. We create DIY Beauty Kits, and guide our customers through the process of making their own skincare products at home. We believe in the power and importance of natural ingredients, and the amazing benefits they offer in skincare. Our aim is to enable our customers to make their own creams and cosmetics that are fresh, highly effective, and free from harmful chemicals.

THE IDEA
The idea for Silk + Honey was born in 2013 when founder, Sharonda Flynn, noticed that there were no top quality, luxury Do-It-Yourself skincare options available. She imagined a product that was made from all-natural and organic oil-soluble ingredients: perfect for the skin and accessible to everyone.

We believe passionately in helping our customers to make their own creams and cosmetics that are fresh, highly effective, free from harmful chemicals and specially formulated to help you look and feel your best.
WE BELIEVE IN CLEAN AND RESPONSIBLE BEAUTY
Our collection contains only the finest nutrient-rich ingredients that are: organic, bio-dynamic, wild-crafted, cruelty-free, sustainable, and/or harvested with social consciousness in mind. We’ve never used ingredients from animal sources. We leave out water, unnecessary fillers, preservatives, ambiguous fragrance and synthetics. We’ve researched our suppliers extensively to ensure that all the ingredients we source are natural, organic and of the highest quality. At Silk + Honey, we are proud to state our products are never, ever tested on animals.

For a significant number of us, our lives have moved so far away from nature that we’ve lost an inherent understanding of what's naturally good for us. HOW NATURAL ARE YOU REALLY?
If there's any question about an ingredient's safety, we simply will not use it. When we say our products are entirely safe and natural, we mean it. Not "probably" safe, or "mostly" natural. We use some of the world's most remarkable ingredients, but what we leave out is just as important.

At Silk + Honey we are firmly committed to natural skincare, free from any potentially harmful synthetic preservatives (such as parabens or phenoxyethanol). While many companies may claim that only small amounts of these synthetic chemicals are used, increasing research is demonstrating that it is the cumulative effect of these substances in the body that cause long-term, harmful health effects.*

True beauty goes far beyond the products that we use to make our skin radiant. Ultimately, appearance will always be defined by lifestyle and diet. Are you sleeping well or are you stressed and anxious? Is the air you breathe clean or polluted? Factors like these and various others are going to have a huge impact on your natural beauty. In the end, a lot of this does come down to choice.
THE IMPORTANCE OF CHOICE
We’re sure you work hard to keep healthy, fit and to maintain your natural beauty. You might go to the gym, avoid unhealthy environments and really value the importance of a good night’s sleep. But you’re never going to be able to control every issue that impacts your appearance and your natural beauty. There are always going to be factors that slip through the cracks and some of this will be down to your personal choices.
No one wants to live the perfect lifestyle without any cheat days or little luxuries. We want to enjoy a takeaway on occasion and have a few drinks with friends. Essentially we want to enjoy our lives and it’s important that we can make these choices without feeling pressure to maintain the perfect example.
It’s not always going to be about choosing to indulge in cheeky cheats of course. Sometimes you’ll choose to be healthy and make the right decision for your skin. Essentially, you’ll pick the salad over the cheeseburger.
FRESHNESS
For us, a key part of maintaining high standards for clean beauty products is to keep shelf life and expiration times in mind.
We know that when you use completely natural products, they don’t last forever. Rather than using chemicals and preservatives, you are benefiting from products that grow on the land and in the sea. This means that they provide more benefits if they are used closer to the time they were farmed or harvested.
For this reason, we recommend that our products should be opened no more than six months after they were originally made. While the products we sell will last far beyond a year, we encourage you to use them as often as you like, to gain the greatest nutritional benefits for your body and your skin.
