KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE

Your skincare regimen should be tailored to your specific skin type. Choosing the right products for your skin is incredibly important, because some products meant to accommodate "all skin types" can create problems, such as oil overproduction, problematic breakouts, redness, dryness, and more.

OILY SKIN

Oily skin looks shiny and greasy and is prone to pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and large pores.

For oily skin, gentle facial cleansers work best for removing dirt and oil. Use the cleanser morning and evening, and follow with a balancing toner. Use a light moisturizer to seal in hydration.

SENSITIVE SKIN

Sensitive skin is easily irritated by cosmetics, temperature changes and overexposure to the sun, any of which can cause flaky patches and redness. After cleansing, the skin feels dry and itchy in places. Sensitive skin needs special attention and gentle products that will not irritate it.

DRY SKIN

A lack of moisture leaves the skin feeling extremely dry, flaky, matte, tight, and dehydrated. The complexion tends to look dull.

For dry skin, creamy cleansers work best for removing dirt and debris. Use the cleanser morning and evening, and follow with a balancing toner. Use a thick, creamy moisturizer to seal in hydration.

COMBINATION SKIN

Oiliness is usually on the T-zone – forehead and nose – and dryness usually on the cheeks. You need to find a balance between excessive dryness and oiliness.

Use a foaming facial cleanser in the morning and a cream cleanser in the evening to keep the skin well balanced. Use a strong astringent on  oily areas and a mild skin toner for dry areas. Follow with a light nmoisturizer works best.

MATURE SKIN

As we age, our skincare needs change, but when aging skin is properly cared for, it can be beautiful and healthy looking. Moisturizing cleansers work best for aging skin. Use the cleanser both morning and evening. Follow with balancing toner, and a thick creamy moisturizer to seal in moisture. Exfoliate your skin regularly with a gentle exfoliator. Once a week or every ten days is ideal. It’s also a good idea to add a night-time eye cream to your beauty routine to ward off premature wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. And be sure that you always use good sun protection – SPF 30 is ideal.
